Privacy policy

Last updated October 23, 2026

Bleu isn’t in the App Store yet. This policy covers this website and the launch email list today, and how the Bleu app will handle your information when it launches. If anything changes before launch, we’ll update this page and the date above.

The short version

Who we are

Bleu is made by Justin Kim, an independent developer in Georgia, United States (“Bleu”, “we”, “us”). For anything about your privacy, write to privacy@bleufilm.app.

This website

bleufilm.app has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking pixels. Fonts, images and scripts are served from our own domain.

The mood search on the home page runs entirely in your browser. What you type there is not sent to us or anyone else.

We show the site in English or Korean based on the country your connection comes from. If you switch language, we store one small cookie, bleu_lang, to remember your choice for a year. It isn’t used for anything else.

The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard request information (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Our domain and email routing run on Cloudflare.

The launch email list

If you sign up to hear when Bleu launches, we collect your email address, the language you signed up in, and when you signed up. We use it only to send you launch news, at most a few emails. You’ll get a confirmation email first; you’re added only after you confirm.

The list is kept by Kit (kit.com), our email provider, in the United States. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to privacy@bleufilm.app. We keep your address until you unsubscribe, or delete the list if Bleu doesn’t launch.

If you email us, Cloudflare routes the message to our mailbox, which is hosted by Google. We use your message only to reply and keep it for our records.

What the app will collect

Your account

When you sign in with Apple, we receive an identifier for your account and the email address Apple shares with us, which may be a private relay address. You choose a display name and a username. You’ll confirm your year of birth when you sign up; we keep only whether you’re 14 or older, not the year itself.

What you make

Programs, the notes you write under films, and your profile details. Programs are private until you share or publish them. Published programs and your profile can be seen by other people on Bleu.

What you watch in Bleu

Films you mark as watched and your progress through programs, so Bleu can show what’s up next. This is shown only to you.

Mood searches

The words you type to find films are used to return results. We don’t keep them linked to your account. We may keep anonymous, combined counts (for example, how often “rainy night” is searched) to show which moods are popular.

People and safety

The curators you follow, programs you save, people you block, and any reports you make, including the reason you chose.

Technical information

If you’ve allowed it in your iPhone settings, Apple shares crash reports and basic performance data with us. We use them only to fix problems.

What we don’t collect

Your contacts, location, photo library or advertising identifier.

How we use it

To run Bleu: show your programs and progress, find films for a mood, show new programs from curators you follow, and keep the community safe by reviewing reports and enforcing blocks. To send launch news if you asked for it. To answer you when you contact us, and to meet legal obligations.

Where the law asks for a legal basis (for example in the EU and UK), we rely on your consent for the launch list, on providing the service you asked for, on our legitimate interest in keeping Bleu safe and working, and on legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract:

We’ll name the database host and search service here before the app launches. Film details come from Wikidata, a free public database; no personal information is sent to it.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety.

Where it’s processed

Bleu is run from the United States, and your information is stored and processed there. If you use Bleu from another country, including the EU, UK or South Korea, your information is transferred to the United States, with the safeguards the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete it and everything you made within 30 days, and copies in backups are removed within a further 30 days. We keep a record longer only where the law requires it, for example a report about content that broke our rules.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK, California or South Korea), you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. We don’t sell or “share” personal information as California law defines those terms.

Children

Bleu is not for anyone under 14, and you can’t create an account or join the launch list if you’re under 14. If we learn that someone under 14 has given us their information, we’ll delete it.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and by collecting only what Bleu needs. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we’ll tell you as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
